Behind the Scenes: Notes from Director Glenn Holsten
Many thanks to you for following the VOICES FROM BROAD STREET MINISTRY film series, a series about what people have, not about what they don't have.
In fact, this film series is a project about abundance. And in the Broad Street Ministry community, there is an abundance of talent.
After meeting guests outside on the lunch line, and working with guests in a series of workshops, I embarked upon a two-week filming period supported by a talented crew of film professionals. The Broad Street Ministry’s multi-purpose Sunday School Room was transformed into the Sunday School Room Studio, where guests were invited to share their gifts and stories. As filming proceeded, there were many moments when Broad Street Ministry guests shared their artistic talents with the film crew, and we were speechless. Each new guest brought new energy and new insights into our world.
Check out this behind-the-scenes footage of Christopher King, David Woods and Miss Hasanah Bennett as each shares the gift of song.
Other guests share their artistic talent as well, including Jacob Young, an actor with dreams of being in a big superhero film; songwriter John Brock, who performs an excerpt of his original composition, “The War Where No One Came;” and the wondrous Princess McGeachy, who improvised songs on the spot as she was inspired by photos from her past. Just stunning.
VOICES FROM BROAD STREET MINISTRY is a storytelling film series that presents the remarkable creative spirits of the men and women who find nourishment of all kinds at Broad Street Ministry. Experience the films, listen to the voices, and connect with your neighbors.
